Bewick's Swans

Taking advantage of the fine weather this afternoon I went in search of the Bewick's Swans. Three times I have waded to the river via the footpath next to Amberley Castle and three times I have dipped. Today was no exception, however on my way there I noticed a herd of Swans below Houghton Bridge. On the way back I decided to turn into the lane where the Bridge Inn is situated, 300 yards down I found myself parked about 70 yards away from 11 Bewick's, 8 adults and 3 juveniles. The birds were hardly bothered by my presence - happy to snooze away the afternoon in the pleasant sunshine.

About the only time they had their heads up.
The normal state of affairs - asleep.
