Butterflies of the French Pyrenees, Sahorre Meadows

I have a huge backlog of photographs to process, mostly from trips last year but there are a few lurking from further back. Whilst processing the photographs is relatively easy, remembering the details is somewhat more difficult. With my aged brain it is the reason that I like to do my blogs on the day that I go out. Still, I have the trip checklist and in some cases a trip report. So, there is a lack of dialogue and a predominance of pictures. If there are any errors, I apologise.

I realised fairly quickly that this was my sort of butterfly tour, arrive at the hotel, dump the gear and straight out butterflying. Just a few hours in some small roadside meadows above Sahorre gave a taste of what was to come over the next week. I had signed up to the Greenwings "Botany and Butterflies of the French Pyrenees" on the recommendation of David Moore, our leader for the Alps trip the previous year and it seemed that I wasn't going to be disappointed.

Meadows above Sahorre

Just a few small meadows and we were visiting after rain, heaven knows how productive it would have been if we had constant sunshine. Even with a small burst of warm sun the butterflies were fairly active but some clung tenaciously to their roosts.
